Q: What do Boris the Bear, a queen bee, a Saxon burial, Suzi Quatro’s bass guitar, and Grayson Perry’s Sissies Pot have in common?

A: They’re all on display at Chelmsford Museum, which re-opened after major refurbishment.

Rich collections and interactive displays are used to tell the Story of Chelmsford in a suite of new galleries with a timeline stretching from the Ice Ages, through the Roman invasion, the granting of a Royal Charter in 1199, and achieving City Status in 2012 up to the present day. Separate, thematic galleries include ceramics (works by Perry, Washington, Constantinidis and other eminent local potters), natural history (including an indoor bee hive), toys and costume.
