Seven Stories, the Centre for Children’s Books, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Opened August 2005
Situated in stunning premises – an old warehouse and mill in the Ouseburn Valley – the Centre is a showcase and archive for the incomparable legacy of British writing and illustration for children, a celebration of the children’s book through a programme of exhibitions and arts and education events, and a family visitor attraction.
RFA were appointed as consultant designers to produce an Orientation Gallery (an indication of what the Centre contains through ‘discovery’), temporary exhibition system (flexible, free-standing partitions and cupboards), seating (a bespoke system of curved benches suited to the limited-height spaces) and wayfinding signage (featuring illustrations by Quentin Blake).
Visit the Seven Stories website for more information about events and opening times.
