National Justice Museum
Open April 2017
RFA has been appointed to upgrade the layout of displays and quality of interpretive design at this popular Nottingham attraction.
The briefing included the following statement: ‘Unlike previous capital developments, instead of creating expensive static exhibitions built around one route, we will explore the use of technology (including the digitisation of the museum’s collections), redesign and mobile interpretation to enable the development of a changing programme of exhibitions/ interpretation’.
The project includes: resolution of the entrance experience, orientation and signage; rationalising the layout in terms of visitor flow and routing; improving interpretation to create a coherent narrative experience; enhancing the Sense of Place found in several locations around the tour; introducing a ‘lightness of touch’ to displays; and creating flexible displays.
