Bluebell Railway Museum Sheffield Park Station, East Sussex
Opened June 2011
RFA were tasked with providing a modern yet sympathetic museum within the historic environment of Bluebell Railway, Britains first preservation steam railway at Sheffield Park station.
Working with an enthusiastic client committee and local architects, Frankham, RFA was appointed to design and build a new museum that tells the story of the railway, which began as the Lewes and East Grinstead Railway (LEGR) in 1882. It also outlines how railways developed from the horse drawn railways of the 1600s, to steam locomotives and then electric trains.
